Server Rules

In general, please use common sense when on our server. If you are doing something this is not allowed on other servers, it probably won't be allowed here either; don't do it!

1. Do not hack. This includes wall hacking and aimbotting. Any players caught hacking will be permanently banned immediately with no chance of appeal.

2. Do not fast fire glitch/script in our server, if you are found doing this, you will be kicked immediately. Further abuse, and you will be banned.

3. If the server is rifles only, do not do the S&D glitch to get pistols and grenades in a rifles only match. Players caught doing this will be kicked immediately, warned upon return, and if found abusing the glitch again, will be banned.

4. Do not use bad language or swear. You will be warned a maximum of three times, usually less, until you are kicked.

5. Respect all admins, members and guests, and always listen to the Admins.

6. Do not invite guests into the server to film without Paul's permission.

7. Don't use long or offensive names or names with lots of numbers.

8. Do not advertise for clans, communities, or websites on our server!

How To Record

This is a guide on how to record in Call of Duty. If you are looking for a step-by-step guide on how to make movies from your recordings, click here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Stunt/topic/1781545/

There are two methods of recording: Fraps and Call of Duty Demo.

Call of Duty
has a built-in feature that lets your record a demo file which is basically a recording of what you're doing in the game. You replay it with the Call of Duty client and you can assign any level of video detail while the video is going on.

To record a demo in CoD open console with the (~) key and type /record [demo name] , where demo name is any word or phrase. We prefer you to name it something easy to recognize, like your name then the map (Example: /record igloofrozen). It will record to either your Main\demos folder or your  awe_cod/demos folder. When finished with recording open console and type /stoprecord.

To replay your demo, open Call of Duty then open the console and type /demo demoname, where
demoname is the name you chose. If you get an error trying to play your demo there are two possible reasons:
  • You didn't put the file in the demos folder in Main
  • The file is not a dm_2 file. This is important. To play your demo it must be of the dm_2 type. To convert if just rename the file to whatever you'd like and put .dm_2 after it

NOTE: Demos generated by Call of Duty do NOT record in the thirdperson view! If you are asked to record and your character is supposed to be in thirdperson, do not use Call of Duty demo. Use Fraps instead.

Fraps is a recording program that can record scenes from games. You should use Fraps if you just want to record one scene and not the entire filming session. The program comes in either the free version, which records 30 second clips and shows www.fraps.com on the top of the video, or the paid version, which is unlimited recording with no watermark (www.fraps.com). As of January 2010, we accept both free or paid versions for our movies.

When filming with Fraps, use these settings:

29.97 FPS - Half Screen - No Cursor - Sound ON

And these game settings:

All Graphics set to MAX - HUD OFF - CROSSHAIRS OFF - /CG_DRAWFPS 0 [FPS OFF - OTHER INDICATORS OFF] - BLOOD ON

Also, if you have all graphics (models, etc) set to their maximum and have blood on, you can type this in console to remove all text and HUD from the screen immediately:

/cg_draw2d 0

To bring the text back, replace the 0 with a 1.

If you are getting very low FPS (under 40), open console and try typing some of these commands:

/com max_fps 100
/snaps 40
/rate 25000

Why Can't Everyone Use Fraps?

Normally, the producer is the only one who uses Fraps, and everyone else just uses Demo, because Fraps recordings come out very large so it would be hard to send them. A normal, 30 second clip is about 200-300 MB in AVI format, which is the raw file. Technically, people could just convert the files into a much smaller format like WMV and it would be around 3mb, but the problem there is that the producer would have to convert it again when they compile the movie, and from experience that makes the video almost impossible to see because the quality is so bad.

However, there is an exception. If you convert the file to something like MPEG1 (720x480), a 30 second file would only be around 20 MB, which is much less than the 200 MB. We may start doing this, but right now there is no need.
